• ⚠The airdrop appears on a site you’ve never heard of (or a Twitter/X DM, Discord, Telegram).
• ⚠You’re asked to connect your wallet and sign a transaction or message.
• ⚠The token name copies a real popular project (fake $UNI, fake $ARB, fake $OP).
• ⚠The amount "claimable" is suspiciously large ($500-$50,000 worth).
• ⚠The transaction approval requests unlimited spend permission on your tokens.
• ⚠Urgency — "claim before snapshot," "ends in 24 hours."

What To Do Right Now

If you got this and haven’t tapped anything yet, here’s the order of operations.

1. •Don’t connect your wallet. Don’t sign any transaction or message.
2. •Check the real project’s official channels. Real airdrops are announced on the project’s verified Twitter/X, Discord, and website — never via random DMs.
3. •If you already connected and signed, immediately revoke all spend approvals at revoke.cash and move remaining funds to a new wallet.
4. •Report at ic3.gov and to the platform where the DM came from.

How To Verify A Real Airdrop Safely

1. •Check the project’s verified Twitter/X and official website — real airdrops announce there first.
2. •Real airdrops usually claim via the project’s own dApp at the URL listed on their verified site. Bookmark known dApp URLs.
3. •Review every transaction before signing. If it requests unlimited spend approval, decline.
4. •Use a burner wallet for claiming any airdrops — keep your main holdings in a separate wallet you never connect to unknown sites.

A wallet drainer is a smart contract designed to steal everything in a connected wallet via a single approve transaction. You sign once thinking you’re claiming an airdrop — and the contract immediately transfers all your tokens to the scammer.

Are Any Airdrops Real?

Yes — Uniswap, Arbitrum, Optimism, and many others have run real airdrops worth billions. The key difference: real ones announce on the project’s verified Twitter/X and link to the project’s own verified dApp. Random sites and DMs are always fake.

I Already Signed — What Now?

Go to revoke.cash from a clean browser, connect the affected wallet, and revoke every approval. Then move remaining funds to a new wallet. Speed matters.

Why Don’t Wallets Block These?

Modern wallets (MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet) now warn about high-risk transactions and suspicious approvals — but only some patterns are caught. Treat wallet warnings seriously, and don’t ignore them.

Will My Hardware Wallet Protect Me?

Partially. Hardware wallets prevent password phishing but still sign whatever you approve. You still have to read each transaction before approving on the hardware screen.
